Design Process

Every designer and project is different and I pride myself on having a clear design journey with regular contact with you throughout the design process to make your project a success.

My design process has proven to be successful with clients to complete a range of project outcomes. We will ultimately be working together and I want your project to be something which we can both be proud of.

Food & Drink Graphic Design Process

I will detail a personalised design process for your project within my quotation but I roughly follow the 5 step process explained below for all my projects:

-

Making your food & drink look as good as it tastes

- Making your food & drink look as good as it tastes

Step 1: Getting to know your business & your project

If you think that I am the perfect match for your next project then the first place to start is to fill out the ‘Start Your Project Form’ on my website. If you choose one of my design packages then I will send you the details for your chosen package including a timeline of what will be achieved in your project.

If your project needs to be bespoke to your business we will chat through your project brief and create the perfect solution to help solve your design problem. After the brief has been finalised, I will provide a personalised quote for you to review.

Once you have decided you would like to go ahead with the project I will be in touch with any pre-work which you need to complete before the project starts, this can be from as little as sending over your logo up to finalising your printing specification.

Step 2: Research & Design Direction

As with developing a new menu, researching and looking at inspiration sets the design direction of your project so is crucial to its success.

Within your brief we will have identified a design style which you prefer as well as your direct competitors, so I will do research into these and how I can make your project stand out from them.

I will then produce a couple of moodboards to use as inspiration for the design direction of your project and what I think is perfect to solve your design brief. If I think it is necessary for your project, these will be shown to you to check you're happy with the design direction and that the project can progress on to the next stage!

Step 3: Initial Ideas & Concepts

This is the bit I really look forward to! Using the research I have conducted and the moodboard you have approved, I will work on initial ideas from pencil sketches to making the ideas pop out on screen too, starting to get the design together to solve your creative brief.

If I am designing your brand I will start with the main logo design in black and white, initially producing a few concepts for you to choose from and then add in colour later on in the design process.

If I am designing a number of items within your project I will focus on a getting the core of the creative ‘look’ defined and apply this to one of the pieces in the project first to get your feedback before I apply this to the rest of the deliverables.

Step 4: Design Development

Once I have had initial feedback on my ideas and concepts from you, I will develop the design along an idea that we have agreed. Each part and every detail will get refined and your design will start to really come alive! Throughout I will give you various points to feedback on the progress so far, so you can shape the design into something you really want.

If you have lots of items in your project, your overall look for the design will have been agreed by this stage and I will then work on getting all elements of your project designed, ready for you to give your feedback on each one.

Step 5: Finalising the Design

Using your feedback I will work on the final design and make sure it fits your goal for your business. Once you have signed off the design I will provide the final deliverables that answer the design problem you were looking to solve in the correct format for you to use in your business, as we agreed at the start of the project.

Then your project is complete and ready to entice those customers to taste your delicious food and drink!
